Computational Neuroscience | Mount Sinai

Research Interests

I'm a postdoctoral researcher in the Schaffer Lab at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. My research focuses on understanding how neural circuits learn and adapt in complex, dynamic settings. I combine machine learning, theoretical neuroscience, and reinforcement learning principles to investigate biologically plausible learning rules in recurrent networks.

About Me

I grew up in Northern India and studied mathematics, first at Miranda House, University of Delhi, then at IIT Madras. I moved to Prague for what started as a research assistantship and turned into a PhD in computational neuroscience. I moved to New York in late 2024.

Outside the lab, I'm almost always reading (there's a book in my bag right now, guaranteed). Some of my all time favourites are Dostoevsky, Camus, Patrick Suskind, Mary Oliver, N. K. Jemisin. I like documenting the passing of time with pictures. I love cooking, eating, and general frolicking. I've been trying to get into running lately. There's also an ever-growing archive of hobbies which you can term as museum of failure or gallery of trying: jiu-jitsu, knitting, rollerblading, via ferrata, hiking, and an ongoing dream to learn both ping pong and pool.
